              First Counseling Session

The first time we talk, we can assess whether this counseling service is appropriate for the client and one can get a general impression of the counseling format. I will also inform the client about limitations of this service and counseling format.  In this session I would like to know what problems the client would like to address and work out some specific goals for the near future.

              Second Counseling Session

In the second session we continue with addressing specific issues and identifying realistic solutions. The focus is on improvements at the pace that is comfortable for the client. Another aspect that we could focus on are thinking and behavioral patterns and analyse what changes are possible in the current context. We will discuss the reciprocal influence of thinking, emotions and behavior and look at ways of changing irrational or maladaptive thoughts and behaviors.

Other topics that may be included in the sessions

Discussing events of the week that had negative consequences for the client (behavioral, emotional) and trying to find more adaptive responses or interpretations.
